THE PROJECT
A new practice, a clearly defined identity.
Nicolò Cortelazzo was opening his notary practice in Fiume Veneto. The identity needed to convey the trust his profession requires while reflecting a young, contemporary approach.
01 · THE CHALLENGE
Conveying authority while staying approachable.
The brief called for a credible identity that moved beyond the conventional visual language of notary practices. It needed to distinguish the practice and work across documents, correspondence and online communication.
02 · THE PROCESS
Researching the sector to find a distinctive direction.
I studied the logos and communication of several Italian notary practices to identify recurring visual conventions. I then explored more contemporary shapes, colours and typographic approaches, looking for a distinctive direction that reflected how the client wanted to present his new practice.
03 · THE SOLUTION
A letter meets a tool of the trade.
I combined the C from Cortelazzo’s surname with the shape of a pen nib to create a compact, geometric symbol. The palette pairs dark blue with ivory and a warm clay tone. For the typography, I moved away from the serif typefaces commonly used in notary practice logos to give the new practice a more contemporary identity.
04 · THE RESULT
The same identity, in print and on screen.
The project includes the logo, the visual language and its print and digital applications. The work shown brings a consistent, recognisable identity to a range of materials, from business cards to the proposed website design.
